Meet Tob, Tob runs the place, with her partner, Men. Both are from Bangkok Thailand and came to study graphic design, and they loves to cook. Their love won out. Men went on to studied French cooking at ICE(institute of Culinary Education), but Thai is where her heart is, and Tob and Men are inseperable, so she cooks Thai.
The silent partner, the famous Thai fashion designer, Duangta, encouraged them to forgo their education in design for practicing the culinary arts, and convinced them to open the restaurant here on 9th street. It is her taste that gives the restaurant the eclectic visuals and she came up with the name.
"Duangta is our love sister. She encouraged us to open the restaurant. I wanted to open the restaurant since I was in Thailand, and now I can cook here, in New York. I want to cook Thai food for people around here, I have a good time doing it. I love everything here in New York, I do not want to leave this place."
"The menu has filled out quite a bit since we started, but if you do not see it on the menu, and if we are not too busy, you can ask for us to make it for you. That's Thai home cooking for you. We go to China Town to get the vegetables ourselves, so that we know what we have is fresh and has good taste. I got the recipes from my mother. Thai food is our taste, it is what we love to eat and like to cook. We cook all the things that we like for all the customers".
